Design.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G 8GB/128GB is finally out and it looks a lot like the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus, only with a less premium finish and likely a heavier use of plastic materials, it borrows a lot from the A series like the A52.  It is built of a glass front, plastic back, and aluminum frame. The front also has a single selfie camera and a triple main camera at the back. Its dimensions are  155.7 x 74.5 x 7.9 mm (6.13 x 2.93 x 0.31 in) and it weighs 177 gms, so friendly to the pocket when in motion.

Display.

The 6.4-inch AMOLED panel on the Galaxy S21 FE is a wee bit smaller than the 6.5-inch screen on the Galaxy S20 FE. The smaller panel doesn’t feel particularly cramped, and I’d say it probably makes the S21 FE easier to use with one hand than the previous model. The Galaxy S21 FE can support a 120Hz refresh rate when manually adjusted. That means scrolling will look smoother on the Galaxy S21 FE’s display, which leads to a better overall display experience with the phone. Streaming movies on any platform looks brilliant and colors are well bright and clear.

Camera.

The Galaxy S21 FE 5G 8GB/128GB packs a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and an 8MP telephoto main camera. We all know for sure that Samsung is a professor when it comes to camera quality and the Galaxy S21 FE 5G matches the current market’s standards without a doubt. All four cameras are copied from the Galaxy S20 FE, which is not that exciting. But thanks to the new and more powerful hardware, Galaxy S21 FE 5G promises better processing for higher photo quality (especially at night) and some clever tricks like object removal after the photo has been taken.

Performance and Software.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G runs Android 12, One UI 4. The Snapdragon 888 powering the S21 FE 5G is the same system-on-chip that powered the entire Galaxy S21 lineup, so you will get comparable performance with those models. And the three S21 phones are among the best performing Android handsets in the last year. Samsung includes less RAM, with the 128GB base model of the Galaxy S21 FE sporting only 6GB to the 8GB found in the standard S21. That affects the ability to quickly switch between apps, though not so much that you’ll notice a serious lag. This phone is a great performer.

Connectivity.

It’s time to ditch 4G-only devices in this category. The Galaxy S21 FE took a step further and delivered a 5G model to its African market. The phone is 5G-ready, so it’s not a request but a fact.

Battery.

Although many expected a 5,000 mAh battery, considering that the predecessors feature 4,500 mAh battery capacity, Samsung retained the same battery capacity. So, you get a 4,500 mAh battery inside the Galaxy S21 FE, which is the same size as the power pack in the phone’s predecessor. With a slightly smaller screen and a more power-efficient chipset running the new phone, you should expect some improvement in battery life over the Galaxy S20 FE’s performance.
